Memorial Hospital to Host Take it to Heart Event

(BELLEVILLE, IL) Is your heart trying to carry on a conversation with you? If so, it may be time to listen. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, and being aware of your level of risk is the first step in prevention.

Memorial Hospital is hosting Take it to Heart at the Four Points Conference Center in Fairview Heights on Saturday, February 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will address the symptoms, risk factors and methods for prevention of heart disease and feature a variety of health screenings and exhibits. In addition to scheduled blood screenings, the event will feature Dr. Hatim Mahmood, a cardiologist and member of Memorial’s medical staff who will present information about the role your family history can play in your risk for developing heart disease.

Advanced registration and a $25 fee is required. Appointments will be issued for blood draws on a first come, first paid basis. To register, call Memorial’s Community Relations Department at 618-257-5649.
